YAY TELEVISION.

So I'm not going to bother with detailed updating on college except that it started, and I like my professors because they seem cool, the coursework seems tough, and I must stop procrastinating.

Speaking of.........

WHO WATCHES GLEE?! New love of my life here man. I didn't think I was a big fan of musical shows and such but man this show is so good. I actually semi-refused to watch it back in like april or whenever they showed previews a whole lot, but NOW I can't get enough of their singing and dancing. It's awesome and everbody should watch it is all I have to say.

Oh and turns out everyone I know (well two people I know) met freakinnnng John Krasinski last night at the IFC Center. How the hell don't I find out about movie screenings that he will attend (of Brief Interviews with Hideous Men) and people that don't really care find out. HOW.

Hope everyone's doing well, and feeling well, steering clear of the flu and all. That's clearly one of the top health things on my mind what with Barnard sending us emails about seeing Health Services if you're sick. So yea. Hope everyone's feeling well and enjoying the quickly disappearing Fall weather :D

I realize how redundantly apologetic I am. And I realize how ridiculous that sounds. So I'll stop.

So basically this summer I've been working as a research assistant in this lab at school, and my fellow experimental friends are:

fruit flies.

The job's been fun and I've been compensated this whole time. But now the actual research program is over and I'm basically still going to go into work to keep these flies alive. I don't yet know how I feel about this. But work has definitely taken up almost all of my time this summer which saddens me.

I still haven't seen Harry Potter HBP for goodness' sake. ildfhlkjdhgilthj. It's driving me nuts. There's also been a whole lot of family stuff going on which has been fun but again bery draining in terms of limited hours of sleep and constantly being "on"

But nonetheless satisfying, slightly busy, summer thus far. I'm definitely not looking forward to the semester starting soon.

In terms of weather I hope those outside of New York have been experiencing a lot less rain, and a lot more sun. It's literally been over 90 degrees only twice since June. It's August 2nd now. And it's raining outside or thundering actually as I speak. INSANE.

I'm still hesitant to place one of those HIATUS signs on my journal because I do secretly read other people's entries (creeper I know) but what with this apparently new LJ setting that might not happen so much anymore. But I'm wondering if I will be able to become an active LJ-er again once the semester starts. Keeping hopes up still but I guess we'll see what happens.

Hope everyone's enjoying the summertime and whatnot. I feel weird 'catching' up like every 8 weeks and then never visiting again. I miss ya folks on the flist =/ ( I also wish LJ had better emoticons or whatever they're called).

REAL LIFE:

01. So I'm semi-dorming now. IT is a lot easier not having to commute home every morning and night.
02. Classes I'm taking: Only four: Organic Chem + lab, Statistics, Spanish, and Vertebrate Biology.
03. Stat---bane of my existence. Anyone on the flist ever taken it and has any wise words of advice...?
04. omfg midyears are now. In like 5 days. Damn. Time is flying by man.

05. Happier things: Sister's baby, as in my niece, Jememah, is very much absolutely awesome. I miss seeing her, but when I do, it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.
06. SPRING BREAK IN 2 WEEKS YAY.
07. I really wish my uni had more days off than just a week off every like 6 weeks. What's up with that?
08. I bought a stuffed owl from a little boy on the Upper West Side who was selling it on the street, along with a bunch of other stuffed. Really cute owl. $2.00!!

Painted Veil

I just saw Painted Veil and I guess I can't really say how much I liked it without spoiling it, but it is so fantastic, so I'll try.

I always semi-loved Edward Norton and he was awesome in Hulk, and I always loved Naomi Watts because she is made of freaking awesome acting powers and beauty. And this movie was so spectacular.

I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a good heart-wrenching/romantic story. I loved how you really got into the characters and cared about them, and the angst! Every scene is just so well acted. The entire movie seems like it has so little dialogue, and yet both of them do such a great job at portraying the characters. And the entire thing is so beautiful too! Not only the pretty landscapes, but also. Naomi Watts' face and clothes, and uhm Edward Norton's face and hair, and his clothes too I guess. Just such a beautiful movie UGH. I kept thinking about it after I saw it and had crazy dreams afterwards.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE : 5/5 STARS. Plus some more.

So clearly I'm a bit late for Christmas wishes, but nonetheless

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE.

Hope those who celebrate Christmas had a good one!

So I don't celebrate Christmas but my birthday I do celebrate.

I got really awesome presents. I feel bad for getting so many things, and I tried this year to tell my friends to not get stuff but it really didn't work.

Uhm. YES. This is so great because it's basically instant 35 minute entertainment whenever one wants.

(yay full set now (S1-S3) of all the good eps since it all started to suck after S3). I miss good old House so this is awesome since I don't really watch it anymore so I can watch these whenever I wanna see Hugh Laurie.

iPod Touch case. Now I can actually begin to think about carrying it around.

Other non-photoable stuffs:
- comforter set!
- chapstick, nailpolish, earrings, bracelet
- money!

But yea. People are nice.

Movie:

The movie was amazing!!! So much freaking action it was mind-blowing. It started off with a bang and it never stopped.

From the first action scene on everything was filmed and done so well. I was thinking, ok so they just did cars, ok so on legs, alright so on a boat, and then they also did a freaking airplane!!!!! They fought in water, in fire, and in the air. And on soil I guess you could say. Daniel Craig is also pretty damn great. And pretty. The action scenes,again, just had me gasping, or like nearly screaming, or saying ohmagoshohmagosh or as they say, 'at the edge of my seat'.

I liked this new Bond girl. Not the British one. The Bolivian one. She was hot, and she had a nice story and she was cool. And I liked when she wore pants because it was such a normal outfit and she still looked cute/hot.

Definitely definitely one of the best Bonds, although I haven't seen all of them so I don't know how entitled I am to say that but I loved it.

Theater Experience:

THERE WAS THIS GROSS GROSS GROSS COUPLE IN FRONT OF ME I JUST WANTED TO KICK THEM OUT. I mean I don't think I'm being a prude when I say if you are so horny that you are huffing and puffing from making out so much, and you're like lying down on your girlfriend and she's touching you under your shirt and shit, you probably should've just stayed home. SERIOUSLY. PROPRIETY PEOPLE.

And like it was so hard to ignore them because they were so fucking loud, and they were talking also, and they were right in front of me, and this is the theater near my house so it's small, and so we couldn't change seats because it was crowded. Ugh. They were so gross. And the guy was asshole-ish because he was talking and he like offered the guy next to him popcorn, like wtf. He doesn't know you and probably doesn't even want to see your disgusting face. They sorta pissed me off. Clearly.

OH! And I heard the lady whisper to him "Good things come to those who wait" which freaked me out even more. They were so weird. She thinks she whispered, but she didn't really. It was before the movie was on and the theater was playing audio-less things so SHUT UP. OIDMFGBKSMNDZKRFNG.

Seriously, I feel like they ruined kissing scenes in movies for me. Forever. Or at least for a while.

I've realized that I get very little done when I don't have an insane amount to do which is really bad.

I procrastinate to the point where I have a gazillion things to do within a few hours. And what's happening is Chemistry just does not get done like that, and instead of getting that adrenaline pumping or whatever, and getting my work done, I end up almost being on the verge of tears since Chemistry is a bitch.

So I need to improve those skills. Productivity skills I think they're called.

I started watching 30Rock. So smart, so funny.

Also, saw The Darjeeling Limited which was really sweet/great. I love Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and Owen Wilson was pretty un-anonoying in it so YAY! Although, I was a bit confused. Who exactly was Bill Murray?

My next door and upstairs neighbors won't let me sleep during the weekends. I just want to smack them upside their freaking heads. Inconsiderates. I was going to add a noun afterwards but am trying to refrain from cursing.

I'm gonna hide my intense excitement for The Office

Baby Shower

This was definitely one of my most favorite episodes of The Office.

It was really funny all throughout. It had all kinds of comedy, like the really pathetic sad kind, the really obvious kind, the subtle kind where you need to really hear what they just said and connect it to the character (the smart kind).

And it was SO FREAKING MEANINGFUL. MICHAEL AND BABIES! Oh man Steve Carell with all those babies, haha. And then the scene with Michael and Holly!!!!!!!!!!!! . AMAZING. It worries me that she's listed as "Guest Starring" and it makes me nervous to enjoy their scenes.

And the end with the message keeping between Jim and Pam. Sigh. So realistic, and subtle and awesome, and sad.

SUCH AMAZING WRITING.

I'm trying my best to take a really very positive attitude towards my studies. Positive as in you know "I like my professors, I like my subjects, and I can totally do well in 'em all" But chem pretty much destroys everything. But again. Not thinking that way.

ALSO PUSHING DAISIES HAS BEEN SO AWESOME LATELY. WHY IS LEE PACE/NED SO FUCKING CUTE I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

Hah. This is so ridiculous.

My apartment is in sort of a quiet, old-ppl type neighborhood, and this like 'hip' couple moved in, or they might be roomates, and they had a really loud housewarming party a few days ago where thier guests were basically pouring out their windows (reminscent of dorm room 'parties') and right now they're blasting their music.

I wonder when someone will complain, or if they already have since the music was playing when I started typing this and has now stopped. I don't type that slow.

So last night John McCain and Barack Obama came to Columbia University to talk about Service Nation and how great community service is and such, and of course they ended up getting into politics and how people should join the army...but nevertheless it was a really cool night at Columbia.

They propped up a huge TV screen and a whole bunch of people sat around/stood around watching. I think there were at least 2,000-3,000 people and when Obama started to speak everyone pretty much lost their shit and kept clapping. I can't believe I didn't know he was a CU grad, but yea it was pretty amazing.

I'm still so shocked that something so big happened at the University because it was both Obama and McCain, oh and the gov of NY and Tobey Maguire. But yea it was pretty freaking awesome.

Classes first I guess.

I only had 2 thus far so nothing much to say . But it was really hot today and I wore a cardigan because I'm retarded. IT WAS REALLY HOT. And then I tried to go to Staples, and ended up leaving to go at 3:45 when my classes had ended at 11:15 and work had ended at 2:00. SO MUCH TIME WASTAGE. Not a good sign I think but I'll ignore that.

Prison Break.

MICHAEL PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD CHANGE YOUR FUCKING CLOTHES. I FEEL LIKE SMACKING HIM. WHY DOES THIS BOY NOT CHANGE?!?!? NOW EVEN THE TATOO ISN'T AN EXCUSE FOR HIS FULL SLEEVED SHIRT PLUS BLAZER!!!!

Mr. Self said that there were clothes in the Safe House!!!!!!!

I liked the episodes aside from that though. Sara was awesome. Mahone was cool (SEE MICHAEL? HE CHANGES HIS CLOTHES!!!) Bellick was funny.

It's like I challenged myself to waste as much time as possible by watching movies before classes start TOMORROW!

So I saw a whole bunch of movies over the last few days after coming back to NYC and I feel like rating and mini-reviewing them all so that's what I'm gonna do.

I'll put my 'reviews' under cuts so not everyone has to read 'em. Some of them have pics and no spoilers mostly except I think only for Dark Knight:

Iron Man:
- Robert Downey Jr. whom I had confused with Cuba Gooding Jr. until like a year ago was EFFING AWESOME. THe way he delivers his dialogues...so fucking cool.
- Tony Stark and Pepper *squee* Loved pretty much every scene between the two. It's so great how they talk simultaneously and understand each other. Again such awesome dialogue and so well delivered.
- Why can't I have 'Jarvis' in my home?
- THE ENDING. YES YES YES. So freaaaaking cool.
- Overall...Tony Stark was just awesome fun to watch.

Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2
- 'Twas nice. Not a waste of my time..
- The British guy involved with America Ferrera was weird though, and really tall.
- Blake Lively was hot.
- Rory was cool. I mean Lena.
- Santorini!! So pretty, and loved that they all went there. It was sweet.

THE DARK KNIGHT:
I just feel like capitalizing it whenever I type it out because of well many reasons.

- First of all, my friends and I paid $21.00 to see it and we missed like 17 minutes of it because the trains were delayed and we took a cab. WTF. And I was the one that was adamant about seeing it at the IMAX because of the 3-D ness but turns out when they said that this film was 'one of the first motion pictures to be shot with IMAX cameras' that just meant that the resolution would be spectacular and you'd be able to see Chrisitian Bale's beautiful face span the 3 story high screen. I feel bad because I appreciated the extreme sharpness but I'm not sure if my friends really cared for it that much. ALSO this isn't the first movie I promised would be 3-D and wasn't. So retarded.
- Heath. Ledger. was. so. spectacular. As I'm sure everyone that's seen the movie has said. But holy crap he sent chills down my back whenever he was on screen. So so so eerie and spectacular.
- Michael Caine! I like him a lot. My friend told me the other day how her friend at camp's aunt was/is Michael Caine's girlfriend. WTH.
That means I am merely 5 degrees away from Christian Bale!

SPOILER:
- Loved the twists in the film. Like with Gordon's death...PSYCHE. And then the freakkiiing LIE about where Rachel and Dent were. Holy crap that was not expected. I actually thought that Bruce changed his mind and decided to go after Dent but my brother was like no, the Joker just lied.

CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT INSTALLMENT.

Laurel Canyon
- Watched it for Bale. Looked different but good still.
- Weird ass movie. Some parts were pretty disturbing.
- HATE THE UNSATISFYING ENDING UGGGGGGGH. I guess I'm just not smart enough to interpret what happens afterwards. Some inconclusive endings are good...like Little Miss Sunshine. Loved the semi-inconclusive ending. But I was pretty confused about this one and I felt like I missed something.

Wanted:
- James McAvoy was lovely as an action hero.
- More lovely as the sick and tired employee though. But overally lovely. It was pretty weird hearing his "American" accent though.
- Some really cool scenes and tricks and stuff. Loved the twist. Nicely done.
- Not an awesome plot but then again not every movie can have INSANE plot like TDK so yea.
- Fun watch and will probably watch it again some day.
- Oh. Angelina Jolie looked pretty, albeit incredibly skinny, but hot nonetheless.

Sex and the City:
- Really fun to watch. Loved Carrie's insane outfits as well as her gorgeously normal ones.
- Jennifer Hudson was so random but I didn't really mind her.
- Too much unnecessary nudity. Which I guess should've been anticipated but I think I always mostly watched the censored eps on CW11 or TBS so I was a little bothered by it.
- Nice plot and some funny parts.
- Overall a sweet and pretty (outfits, scenery etc) movie.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day:
- A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
- I really like Amy Adams and her weird finger twittering Enchanted ways. She's fun to watch.
- Frances McDormand was also really cool. It was funny because I saw her in Laurel Canyon the night before and she was so so so weird and out of control in that one and then seeing her be incredibly polite in this was weird. But she was awesome.
- LEE PACE I LOVE YOU. Such such such such such an adorable face and his voice is so damn manly...damn. Loved his British accent. I'd forgotten how manly his voice was...BUT EEEEEEEEEEEEEE. SO CUTE.

Yay Lee Pace:

The Fall:
My last movie before classes start. Ugh.

- YES FOR FREAKING BEAUTIFULLY MADE FANTASY FILMS.Normally I don't like super fantasy movies but this was very Pan's Labyrinth-y.
- I RECCOMMEND IT TO EVERYBODY. EVERY. BODY.
- So visually pleasing. jrio;ljntehjoitjh. And it wasn't as scary as Pan's, or meaningful as much I guess, but still very very wonderful.
- Lee Pace. Again. FUCKING ADORABLE. AND THE LITTLE GIRL OMFG SO CUTE. At times I didn't know who to look at and had to watch the scene twice because both the people on screen were so adorable and lovable. But yea. It was so beautiful and sweet.

CAPS BC UGH SO PRETTTYY.

Oh man such a long entry. Hah.

Maybe I'll have interesting entries to post once classes start, but I doubt that. It'll probably still just be about fandom...

Finally back home. Even though I came back to the US on the 10th I've had guests at my house and I've been going off to Long Island and stuff. It's so comforting to finally be able to sleep in my own bed and know that I'll be doing so for a while now.

But then again I have so many things to do and catch up on it makes me so anxious just thinking about it. That's pretty much what sucks about going on long vacations...the cleanup afterwards.

How has everyone's summer been? Somewhat eventful I hope...

It was so fantastic. I was trying to stop watching House because I couldn't care enough about those three new people, except Kumar's cute and funny, and Thirteen is pretty but nonetheless...I missed the original three...

BUT THEN THIS EPISODE TOTALLY EXPLOITED THE BEST THING ON HOUSE!

The House/Wilson relationship was definitely one my favorite reasons for watching and this finale took that and freaking rocked it.

-- I loved loved loved that finally we got to see House be SAD. The constant jackass thing was getting a little old at times...

-- IT WAS SO SAD seeing him be so freaking depressed. But so great because it was so well done. Hugh Laurie is fucking made of win.

-- CANNOT WAIT for next season. And I never thought I'd say that about House, ever, again, so this is really great.

This was definitely one of the most emotional episodes of House, and definitely one of the greatest. SO freaking great.

NO CHUCK NO! Ugh he was so close, but then stupid Bart, wtf was he doing talking to him like that, freaked him out and pushed him to give that disproportionate girl the rose. WTF.

All the relationships are so messed up I'm really confused...I missed parts of the episode because I didn't get back in time after commercials so I think I need to rewatch...

But eeweeweew Vanessa and Dan. Interesting about Nate and Serena. Yay for Jenny not being a creepy freak, and being good and sewing her dresses. YAY for Lily and Rufus and the adorable extreme loving glances and words etc. between them...but then WTF with the part where he was all "Enjoy your wedding..." Did I miss something?

Nonetheless good episode, with some great parts, especially the Lily/Rufus and Chuck/Blair parts. Definitely excited about next season.

This is the first time in a really long time, I think, that I'm posting after having watched tv. Such a great feeling not having a nagging feeling of, "crap I should start studying now that I've wasted all that time watching tv" or "crap i should go finish my work now" etc.

So all exams are over, classes are definitely over, and one grade has been out so far and I'm happy with it so yay.

--- So Chuck is really freaking hot. And omfg Georgina, I just want to slap her. And Dan for being dumb, but I don't blame him for being all angsty and uhm revenge driven I guess. But Lily/Rufus FTW. They're such a hot middle-aged couple.

Ugly Betty
--- GIO!!! Betty and Gio are awesome, especially Gio. And coach Tony is hot but his shorts were way too tight in the first ep, but still very cute. And poor Daniel and how everyone picks on him for being the weak/dumb one.

I wonder who took the picture of Betty Whorez though.

The Office (finale)
--- UGH. So many mis-communications or things gone wrong or just screw-ups basically. I really really really really will smack someone if they make a spin-off where Jim isn't in Scranton anymore or something absolutely absurd like that. There is no Office without Michael Scott and any show without him will suck butt.

Kudos to Phyllis for throwing probably one of the most elaborate and greatest office parties in real life and in tv life.

Lost
--- I was freaking out when the episode started to end and they started to play that ominous/semi-climatic/emotional music that always precedes the final episode, and that always is a sign of terrible things to come, and omfg this show blows my brains. BLOWS 'EM.

And wtf. All 6 of them are like in four different groups, and wtf wtf wtf.

WHAT IS WORSE OF ALL IS THAT I'M GONNA MISS THE FINALE. It's supposed to be on teh 29th and I'm leaving to Bangladesh on the 23rd, and the finale was totally supposed to be on the 22nd at first, but then Grey's Anatomy had to ruin everything. And ugh. It's ok I just have to accept it and let it go.

So. To the f-list. Anyone know of their summer plans yet, if any? I hope everyone's doing well, enjoying the semi-good weather wherever they are (hopefully) and yea...

I'm gonna go now to catch up on the many other shows I've missed over the past few weeks.

Sorry to everybody for being a miserable LJ friend/poster what ever else I am.

Finals Week is slowly approaching, as in it's here in two days. So now is the time for me to learn. Cram. Study. And any other synonymous verbs.

I hope everyone is doing well or semi-well, and good luck to anyone else whose finals are about to start/going on now!

The Office!

It's been so long since I've posted an entry as a reaction to an episode of a show...

I actually might not go through with this...

I'll say one thing though: Jim's fake proposal to Pam = freaking beautiful. Jim having bought her ring A WEEK after they started dating = OMFG YES. It was like the season finale of last season when I was sitting upright, pretty much cheering. Hahah. Lame.

New York has been having the most amazing weather which is really nice. But I wonder if this means that the summer will be extra hot...I should take pictures. Our campus has these really nice Cherry Blossom trees, I think that's what they're called, but yea they look so beautiful and soft and spring-like.

Also. I saw this man on the train that, to me, looked like a mix between Adrien Brody (not as his usual ghetto self but more...writer in King Kong) and Lee Pace, or more like his hair.

He was pretty attractive...I also lost my chapstick on the train today though, so that sucks.

I'm not really feeling college life.

What I am feeling though is lower back pain, which. is. a. bitch. A bitch that makes everything 10x worse..
